“Songs from Childhood”presentation in Berlin

Next Wednesday, on 21 October, the Arvo Pärt Centre together with Universal Edition will present “Songs from Childhood” at the renowned Dussmann KulturKaufhaus in Berlin.

A selection of children’s songs and piano pieces composed by Arvo Pärt have been published under the title “Songs from Childhood” / “Lieder aus der Kinderheit” / “Lapsepõlve lood”, consisting of a CD and sheet music for all the songs, which will be available in Estonian, German and English and can be sung with the accompaniment of a piano or chamber ensemble.

From the Arvo Pärt Centre, Kristina Kõrver will be introducing the background and starting point of the project as well as the sheet music available in Estonian language. She has also written and compiled the thorough booklet with texts and photos accompanying the CD. Selection of songs from the new album will also be performed by the girls choir of Singakademie zu Berlin.
Guests of honor at the presentation will be Arvo Pärt and Norbert Lammert; the evening will be hosted by Mikko Fritze.

Presentation begins at 7pm, entrance is free.
