Exhibition of the architectural design competition in Hungary

On 7 May 2015, the exhibition “Tabula rasa”, a selection of submissions of the design contest for the Arvo Pärt Centre will be opened at the Budapest Centre of Architecture FUGA, Hungary. The exhibition is part of series events held in Hungary to celebrate Arvo Pärt in his 80th year. The series are organized by the Estonian Institute in Hungary.

In addition to the winning work, “Tabula” by Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos S.L.P, all other nominated works and special award winners will be presented along with all other submissions by Estonian architects selected to the second stage of the competition.
The exhibition will be opened by Peeter Pere, head of the Union of Estonian Architects, who will also offer a tour. Speeches will be given by Tom Nørring, the Danish Ambassador to Hungary, and José Luis Rodriguez de Colmenares, an aide at the Spanish Embassy in Budapest. Arvo Pärt’s Es sang vor langen Jahren – Motette für de la Motte will be performed by the Hungarian chamber ensemble ContrasTon. On 22 May, the exhibition hall will host a concert by the Hungarian Radio Choir.

The exhibition will remain open until 31 May 2015 and was organized by the Estonian Centre of Architecture and the Arvo Pärt Centre. In addition to the exhibition, the Hungarian Radio Choir will give a concert with works of Arvo Pärt and Péter Zombola in FUGA centre on 22. May. And since February, the Estonian Institute in Hungary is organizing a series of cinema events presenting films, where Arvo Pärt’s music has been used.
