Liivika Simmul, Headmaster of St. John’s School, will give a public lecture “Tradition and Innovation in Education”.

As well as being a Head Teacher, Liivika Simmul, the founder of St. John’s School in Tallinn, is an educational thinker. Her goal is the fully-rounded development of each and every child, taking spiritual, social and existential guidance as being equal in importance to the acquisition of knowledge.

Liivika Simmul is also co-founder of the Rocca al Mare School and its individual training centre in Vodja. She was a source of inspiration and advice during the inception of the Arvo Pärt Centre, and continues to contribute to the Centre’s work as a member of its supervisory board.

Liivika Simmul has initiated and edited several books on Orthodox spirituality and pedagogy.

The lecture will be in Estonian and is open to all those interested.
