Short description
Veni Creator for choir and organ was written in 2006 to a commission from the German Bishops’ Conference and was premièred that year by Capella Cathedralis and the cathedral youth choir of Fulda, conducted by Franz-Peter Huber.
The work is based on two verses of one of the Roman Catholic church’s most important prayers, the pentecostal hymn “Veni, creator Spiritus”. It is short, bright and airy tintinnabuli composition, ending in a festive Amen-formula.

mentes tuorum visita,
imple superna gratia,
quae tu creasti pectora.
Accende lumen sensibus,
infunde amorem cordibus,
infirma nostri corporis,
virtute firmans perpeti.

Come, O Creator Spirit blest!
And in our souls take up Thy rest;
Come, with Thy grace and heavenly aid,
To fill the hearts which Thou hast made.
Kindle our senses from above,
And make our hearts o’erflow with love;
With patience firm, and virtue high,
the weakness of our flesh supply.
