Vocal text

LET THE SNOW SWISH
Lyrics by Paul Haavaoks
Translation by Paul Hillier

Now let the snowflakes swoosh and swish
Above us and around,
And snow lie deeply like a wish
Along the moon-lit ground.
We’re looking for a tree that fits
Our home; oh look, d’you see?
We’ll take it back with us, for its
A perfect Christmas tree.

Now woodland spirits wave and bow
Their branches in the air.
Fir-tree, at home soon you will glow
With candles in your hair.

Now let the snowflakes swoosh and swish
Above us and around,
And snow lie deeply like a wish
Along the moon-lit ground.
So let it storm all ov’r the land
And wind blow far and wee;
At home we’ll be, for there will stand
Our perfect Christmas tree.

LAS VIHISTAB
Sõnad Paul Haavaoks

Las vihistab, las vihistab
me ümber tuisutra…

LAS VIHISTAB
Sõnad Paul Haavaoks

Las vihistab, las vihistab
me ümber tuisutrall.
Las lumi naeru kihistab
kuuvalgel laane all.
Me otsime, me tõttame –
näe, ongi kähar kuusk!
Just selle kaasa võtame,
see kõlbab nääripuuks.

Puud eemal tervitades meid
ju käega vehivad.
Sind, käharpäine metsaneid,
pea küünlad ehivad.

Las vihistab, las vihistab
me ümber tuisutrall.
Las lumi naeru kihistab
kuuvalgel laane all.
Las vihistab, las vihistab
me ümber tuisutrall,
las naeru kaasa kihistab –
meil hea on kuuse all!

WAS BRAUST ER SCHÖN
Text von Paul Haavaoks
Übersetzt von Cornelius Hasselblatt

Was braust er schön, was saust er schön
der Schneesturm eisig kalt.
Vom Schnee ein Lachen hell ertönt,
der Mond scheint auf den Wald.
Wir suchen hier und schauen dort,
sieh da, ein stolzer Baum!
Genau du bist's, komm mit uns fort,
zu uns als Weihnachtsbaum.

Die Bäume grüßen uns von fern
und wedeln mit dem Arm.
Dich liebes Bäumchen schmücken gern
die Kerzlein hell und warm.

Was braust er schön, was saust er schön
der Schneesturm eisig kalt.
Vom Schnee ein Lachen hell ertönt,
der Mond scheint auf den Wald.
Was braust er schön, was saust er schön
der Schneesturm eisig kalt.
Auch unser Lachen hier ertönt –
wenn's Weihnachtslied erschallt.
