Description
Steinway artist Joonas Haavisto is one of the most sought-after jazz musicians in the Nordic countries. This spring he will be in creative residence at the Arvo Pärt Centre.
Pianist Joonas Haavisto will present the music from his latest solo piano album Inner Inversions, released in 2024 on the Japanese label Blue Gleam. The musical idea behind the album was to reveal his influences and let them come out as they are. Joonas has said that his first influences in music when he was 5 years old were Bach and Basie. In the concert at the Arvo Pärt Center you will hear his arrangements of Bach’s preludes and fugues as well as some well-known jazz standards where Bach’s counterpoint ideas come alive again.
