Description

This concert celebrates the 90th birthday season of Arvo Pärt through a dialogue between his music and works by a new generation of Czech composers. The programme brings together Pärt’s iconic Tabula rasa with Forest Scenes by Jan Ryant Dřízal and Eclipse by Martin Klusák. Eclipse (2018) is composed as a musical tribute to Tabula rasa and was also inspired by Klusák’s creative residency in Estonia. Using instrumentation similar to Tabula rasa, the piece has received acclaim from Czech audiences and critics and brought Klusák international commissions. Jan Ryant Dřízal’s recent work Lesní Scény (2023) invites listeners on a captivating sonic journey through the forests of the Czech Republic, reflecting ideas inspired similarly by his earlier contacts with Estonia.

The concert features a collaboration of Estonian Sinfonietta chamber orchestra and Czech musicians: conductor Peter Vrábel, artistic director of Berg Orchestra, outstanding Czech soloists, laureates of many prestigious international competitions including the Tchaikovsky or Fritz Kreisler competitions.
