Night Glow

Johan Randvere, one of Estonia’s leading pianists, gives a solo concert at the Arvo Pärt Centre, weaving together a captivating array of different musical worlds and allowing the piano to reveal the full richness of its tonal palette.

From the monumental Bach–Busoni Chaconne to Kancheli’s poetic miniatures, from Rautavaara’s richly coloured études to Sibelius’s introspective impromptus, each work reveals a new facet of the piano’s boundless expressive possibilities. Often, simple musical material gains its power through repetition, varied use of register, and silence. Despite the technical demands, the music retains a contemplative and meditative atmosphere.
