Post Tenebras Flûtes (Switzerland)

Artistic Director Maarika Järvi

Post Tenebras Flûtes is a Swiss flute ensemble that consists of 18 professional musicians. The ensemble was convened in the autumn of 2019 by flutist Maarika Järvi. As president of the flute society Souffle d’ici et d’ailleurs (transl. a Breath from Here and There) of French-speaking Switzerland (la Suisse romande), Maarika saw the potential to form a permanent ensemble with the members of the flute society, which consists of a hundred flute players from the Lake Geneva region and bordering France. This group of musicians is focused on interpreting chamber music.

The name of the ensemble, Post Tenebras Flûtes, refers to the motto of the city of Geneva, Post Tenebras Lux, which highlights the ensemble’s territorial identity on the shores of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman).

Programme: Wil Offermans, Daniel Schnyder, Arvo Pärt, Gabriel Fauré, Jean Sibelius, Camille Saint-Saëns,  Antonio Vivaldi.

On June 22, the Centre is open until 4.00 p.m., on June 23, the Centre is closed. Happy Victory Day and Midsummer to everyone!
