Location

Arvo Pärt Centre

Performers

Tauri Tölpt

Description

In the modern secular age, the importance of prayer and thus the knowledge of its depth and scope are increasingly being pushed into the background. The lecture will take a contemplative journey into learning about prayer as one of the most distinctive abilities of humanity in the tradition of Eastern Christian thinkers.

Tauri Tölpt is a theologian whose main field of research is Byzantine patristic and dogmatic theology. He is Head of the Orthodox Chair at the Institute of Theology of the EELC and lecturer in Orthodox dogmatics. In addition, he also gives lectures on Orthodox theology and patristics at the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies of the University of Tartu. He has been a member of the Artistic Advisory Board of the Arvo Pärt Centre since 2020.

The lecture will be in Estonian.
