Quattro Quarti 15

The saxophone quartet Quattro Quarti celebrates its 15th anniversary this autumn with a concert at the Arvo Pärt Centre.
The program will feature works by Estonian composers, including the premiere of Murdumishetk (Breaking Point) by Age Veeroos.

Quattro Quarti consists of Eve Neumann (soprano saxophone), Jandra Puusepp (alto saxophone), Valdur Neumann (tenor saxophone), and Liis Mäevälja (baritone saxophone). The quartet was formed by students of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre who shared a desire to perform a diverse repertoire—from classical to contemporary saxophone music. All members of the quartet are graduates of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and have furthered their studies under renowned saxophone professors from various countries.

Quattro Quarti has performed across Estonia as well as in Germany, Russia, and Spain. In recent years, the quartet has frequently collaborated with choirs—for example, together with the Moscow State Academic Chamber Choir under the direction of maestro Vladimir Minin, they performed Amao Omi by Giya Kancheli in St. Petersburg and Tallinn. With the choirs of the Veronika Portsmuth Choir Academy, they have performed works by Tõnu Kõrvits and Kristo Matson; and with the vocal chamber ensemble Vox pUNT, they have performed compositions and arrangements by Patrik Sebastian Unt.

All members of the quartet are active in the Estonian Saxophone Association, contributing significantly to the development of saxophone culture in Estonia.
