Composer’s Recital: Tõnu Kõrvits – “Songs”

Sat 19. December 2020, 17.00

Arvo Pärt Centre

Robert Traksmann (violin)
Marcel Johannes Kits (cello)
Rasmus Andreas Raide (piano)
Featuring Karis Trass (mezzo-soprano)

Tõnu Kõrvits continues his composer-in-residence position at Eesti Kontsert with compositions for chamber ensembles. His poetic and visionary music takes the listener on a hypnotic journey into the landscapes of nature and folklore, the human soul and the subconscious mind. In Kõrvits’ musical language, the expressive melody is complemented by a subtle spectrum of harmony and timbre colours. The programme’s highlight is the premiere of the new work.

This chamber recital features acclaimed musicians of our younger generation. Trio ’95, Robert Traksmann (violin), Marcel Johannes Kits (cello) and Rasmus Andreas Raide (piano), won first place at the prestigious Hannikainen Chamber Music Competition in Finland, accompanied by young Estonian singer Karis Trass.

The concert takes place in cooperation with Eesti Kontsert. See more here.
