Description
To silence. Reflections on Taoism
The concert will feature a new work by Märt-Matis Lill, inspired by and developed from his 2012 composition “Imaginary soundscapes”. The piece was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of John Cage’s birth and alluded to Cage’s work “Imaginary landscapes”. The subtitle ‘24 Preludes to Silence’ also touches on oriental philosophies such as Chan/Zen Buddhism and Taoism. Märt-Matis Lill also develops these themes in a new work for the HELIjaKEEL (Sound and Language) series, a full-length concert inspired by Taoism. A Taoism-themed discussion between Märt-Matis Lill, Margus Ott and Madis Arukask is interspersed between the concert parts.
The HELIjaKEEL series will continue to focus on different scriptures, religions and philosophies of life in the 2024/2025 season. It will juxtapose and find connections – writer-composer combinations – through similar religious and philosophical views or interests.
