Description
Oboist Kalev Kuljus and pianist Marko Martin are among Estonia’s leading musicians, connected by a long-standing collaboration that began during their school years. Both are prize winners of international competitions, highly regarded as soloists and chamber musicians, and have performed on prestigious stages around the world.
Kalev Kuljus is an internationally acclaimed oboe soloist and principal oboist of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, celebrated for his refined sound, expressive sensitivity and technical brilliance. Marko Martin is a distinguished pianist and chamber musician whose playing is marked by expressiveness, sensitivity and a wide tonal palette. Their performances together combine artistic mastery, experience and a close musical partnership.
The programme features major works from the oboe repertoire by Johann Wenzel Kalliwoda, Eugène Bozza and Henri Dutilleux alongside music by Estonian composers. A new version for oboe and piano of Lauri Jõeleht’s solo oboe work Ampla will be premiered at the concert, and Frozen Shadows by Mart Siimer will also be performed.
The concert is presented in collaboration between Concerts of Estonian Professional Musicians Foundation and the Arvo Pärt Centre.
