String quartet M4GNET
Description
In the spring of Arvo Pärt’s 90th birthday year, the string quartet M4GNET will dedicate its concert to Arvo Pärt’s music.
M4GNET, a group of acclaimed young Estonian musicians who came together in autumn 2020, represents a generation whose musical development has been strongly influenced by Arvo Pärt and his work. The members of the quartet have been playing together in various ensembles for over a decade, but the decisive impetus for the creation of a stable string quartet came from the initiative of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia’s Chamber Ensembles Residency Programme, for which they were selected by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia’s Endowment for the Performing Arts to participate in the first two-year programme. In June 2021, the ensemble won first prize at the international chamber music competition KraCamera 2021 in Kraków, Poland. Katariina Maria plays on a rare instrument provided by the Estonian Musical Instruments Fund.
The quartet’s partners on stage this year are Taniel Kirikal (baritone and countertenor) and Rasmus Andreas Raide on piano.
According to the musicians, the concert’s programme of intimate chamber works will reflect on the eternity that Arvo Pärt has woven into his work with great love and care.
