Description

Music is like the voice of time. Every composition carries within it the spirit of its era – both the moment it was created and the unique moment in which it is heard.

At the concert “Voice of the Times”, Estonian composers from different generations come together. The evening opens with Heino Eller’s Lyrical Piece. Arvo Pärt’s Mozart-Adagio sounds like a bridge between the past and the present. The audience will also hear a brand-new work – a piano trio composed in 2025 by Mihkel Kerem, commissioned by Trio Poll–Varema–Poll and premiered at this concert. The program concludes with Piano Trio No. 2 by Artur Lemba – a romantic and melodically rich piece by a classic of Estonian music.

The trio members – Mari Poll, Henry-David Varema, and Mihkel Poll – are internationally renowned performers whose repertoire spans from Mozart and Brahms to contemporary composers. Estonian music holds a special place in their work — including classics like Eller and Lemba, as well as modern composers such as Arvo Pärt, Erkki-Sven Tüür, and Tõnu Kõrvits.

The trio has performed on prestigious stages, including the Berlin Konzerthaus and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and in 2023, they received the Annual Award for Music from the Estonian Cultural Endowment for their broad and international artistic activities.
