Chamber Choir Ireland
Conductor Paul Hillier

Description

Chamber Choir Ireland is the country’s flagship choral ensemble and national chamber choir under the internationally celebrated and multi-award-winning conductor Paul Hillier as Artistic Director. The Choir is recognised for its unique approach to creative commissioning, recording and programming, and has gained a reputation for the high artistic quality of its performances. The choir remains a thriving force on a very active choral scene both in Ireland and internationally.
The choir’s repertoire ranges from early renaissance to the present day, including both choral classics and commissions of new works. On their first concert in Estonia, the programme will present the music of the great English renaissance composer Thomas Tallis, alongside newer choral music from America and England, and will also introduce the works of contemporary composers from their home country, David Fennessy and Eoghan Desmond.

Programme:

David Fennessy (IRE) – chOirland
Thomas Tallis – Lamentations of Jeremiah (1)
Eoghan Desmond (IRE) – I am
Arvo Pärt – O Holy Father Nicolas
Cassandra Miller (USA) – The City, Full of People
Caroline Shaw (USA) – How to Fold the Wind

Cassandra Miller’s piece “The City, Full of People” was commissioned by Eamonn Quinn of Louth Contemporary Music Society with funding from the Arts Council of Ireland and Robert D. Bielecki Foundation.
